Your Step-by-Step Guide to the MM2H Application Process

Pick the tier that fits your plans: Silver, Gold, Platinum or the Special Economic Zone (SEZ/SFZ) pathway. Each has different fixed deposit, property and age requirements. Make sure you have a clean criminal record, at least 18 months left on your passport and a willingness to stay 90 days a year in Malaysia if you are under 50. 

All applications must go through a MOTAC‑registered agent. They handle paperwork, submissions and liaison with the MOTAC’s officers on your behalf. Once appointed, sign the agreement and pay the initial deposit. 

Your agent will help you gather: 

• Completed MM2H and IM.12 forms.
• Certified passport copies and passport‑sized photos.
• Letter of Good Conduct (Police Clearance) from your home country, issued within 3 months.
• Resume, relationship proofs (marriage/birth certificates) and financial evidence.

Your agent submits to MOTAC. Processing takes about 90 days. Expect mandatory police background checks and cross‑agency screening. 

Once approved, you get a Conditional Approval Letter valid for 3 months. You must enter Malaysia within that period to complete the next steps. 

Upon arrival, you and your dependants will: 

• Complete a medical check-up at a panel clinic or hospital appointed by MOTAC.
• Buy valid Malaysian medical insurance.
• Place the required fixed deposit in a licensed Malaysian bank.

Your agent submits the final documents (medical, insurance, FD certificates). The Immigration Department then endorses the MM2H sticker in your passport. Congratulations. You are now officially an MM2H pass holder.

• Buy an approved property within 12 months (or 3 months for SEZ).
• Withdraw up to 50% of your fixed deposit for property, education or medical expenses.
• If under 50 years old, ensure you or your dependents meet the 90 days annual stay.
