Frequently Asked Questions
What should I do after my MM2H visa is endorsed on my passport?
After endorsement, applicants should complete required post-visa tasks such as updating banking arrangements, fulfilling property requirements (if applicable), and preparing for renewal obligations.
Is there a deadline for purchasing property after my MM2H visa is issued?
Yes. You must submit a signed Sale & Purchase Agreement (SPA) within 12 months of endorsement.
What happens if I get a new passport while my MM2H visa is still valid?
If you obtain a new passport before your MM2H visa expires (due to expiry, full pages, or loss), you must transfer your MM2H visa to the new passport to retain the remaining validity.
MM2H participants are responsible for monitoring their own visa expiry dates and ensuring they do not overstay in Malaysia.
Can I cancel my MM2H visa if I no longer want it?
Yes. Applicants may apply to cancel the visa. Bank procedures may require presence in Malaysia, so advance planning is advised.
Can MM2H participants convert their foreign driving licenses to Malaysian licenses?
Yes. Licence conversion is permitted with verification from the issuing authority. Singapore licences require separate handling.
Can I import my household items or my pet to Malaysia?
Yes. Household items may be imported duty-free. Pets may also be imported subject to veterinary and quarantine regulations.
What should I do if my supporting documents are not in English?
Any document not written in English must be translated into English and the translation must be certified by the Embassy of Malaysia.
